EXT.ANYWHERE AS LONG AS THERE'S A BENCH.LATE AFTERNOON It is raining. ALEC sits on a bench somewhere, staring at the ground, his legs bouncing up and down. MICHEL pulls up in his vehicle and exits umbrella first. He approaches the bench, but doesn't sit. MICHEL Why did you ask me to meet you here? ALEC Sit, sit. MICHEL No. ALEC Sit, sit. MICHEL It's wet. There's a puddle where you want me to put my ass. Come sit in the car. CUT TO: INT.MICHEL'S CAR.MOMENTS LATER The car door opens and MICHEL gets out. ALEC stands there, stunned. MICHEL (cont'd) I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be rude. But this is my place. And you're not welcome. Not anymore. You're going to have to go back to your little corner of the world. So sit. Now. ALEC What do you mean? MICHEL You're not welcome here anymore. You can't come here. You don't belong here. You've been kicked out. You're gone. You're no longer welcome. And if you try to come back, you're going to get kicked out again. You're done. You're finished. You're done. You're done. ALEC You'll regret this. MICHEL (stunned) What? ALEC You'll regret it. MICHEL (shocked) You're serious? ALEC Yes. MICHEL How? ALEC Because you won't understand. You won't believe what you're about to see. You won't understand how much you've hurt people. You won't understand the pain that you caused. You won't understand the pain that you will cause. You won't understand the pain that you will inflict. You won't understand the pain that you will inflict on yourself. You won't understand the pain that you will inflict on others. You won't understand the pain that you will inflict on yourself. MICHEL Just leave, and never come back. That's all. CUT TO: INT.BEDROOM - DAY. It's dark. MICHEL lies in bed, eyes closed. His head rests against the pillow. The room is silent except for the sound of rain outside. Suddenly he wakes, and looks around. He sees ALEC standing over him. ALEC You were right. This isn't home. MICHEL Yeah, well, it was supposed to be. ALEC I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said anything. MICHEL Don't apologize. I know what I did. I know what I did. I knew what I was doing. I just couldn't control myself. ALEC I'm sorry. MICHEL However, I told you to leave, and I'm calling the police. ALEC I'm sorry. MICHEL That's not what I meant. You know what I mean. ALEC I know. I'm sorry. MICHEL (sighs) Okay. I guess I should go now. ALEC No. You stay. MICHEL Why? ALEC I'm staying. I'm staying. I'm staying. CUT TO: INT.BEDROOM - NIGHT. ALEC and MICHEL are still lying in bed. They both look up at the ceiling. They talk quietly. ALEC I thought that I had finally found peace with myself. I thought I could stop hurting people. But then I met you. And I realized that I couldn't. I can't stop hurting people. ALEC stabs MICHEL with a wooden shiv he fashioned from the bedpost. ALEC I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry.I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. MICHEL bleeds out onto the area rug. Police sirens echo through the night. Welcome to the 2016 edition of "Top Shelf Prospects". As we go through the Summer of 2016 I will be featuring a team-by-team look at the top prospects in the NHL. I will follow the order of the first round of the NHL draft (as if there were no trades). You can find all the articles here. Since we had an extensive NHL Draft preview, I will not be reviewing the players who were drafted this year. There have been no games since then, and my reports on them will not have changed.Permalink
